Principal’s Welcome

Hello Finland Families,

We are officially in the swing of things at Finland Elementary, as we move into autumn and the temperatures begin to drop.  We have amazing things happening in our classrooms, and our students are doing an outstanding job of showing their Eagle Pride each and every day.  Here are a few great things taking place in the classrooms:

Students are reading independently!  We have students who can stay engaged and interested in their books for at least 20-40 minutes.  Teachesr are then having conferences with students and finding that there is a high level of understanding taking place behind this reading.  What a wonderful skill to have!

Students are applying problem solving skills across different areas of Math.  Our staff will present problem situations, and our students will use their own thinking to guide the questions that could be asked.  Problems are sometimes presented without any numbers, and the students can still figure out how to find the solution!

There are many more amazing things happening in our classrooms on a daily basis.  Our students are growing faster than ever before, and our staff is working around the clock to continue to support this academic push.  Please make sure to keep your students reading at home, ask them questions about the world, and continue to fan the flame of curiousity.

Thank you for your continued support.

Your Principal,
Sean Flynn
