Principal’s Welcome

Dear Finland Families,

The past school year has been full of exciting ebbs and flows.  We have seen increased opportunities for family involvement, an overall improvement in academic achievement, and even some Eagle Man sightings.  As all is winding down, I am happy to reflect that this year has been the best yet for  Finland Elementary.

As one year ends, it is time to begin looking ahead to the next.  As a staff, we have worked hard to collaborate to best prepare our students for the 2018-2019 school year.  We have created and implemented transition plans specifically tailored for the unique challenges presented with each change of grade level.  You can support this work by continuing to emphasize academics with your students over the summer.  Take turns reading to and listening to your student read - EVERY DAY!!  Find ways to include students in the math that comes up in your home on a daily basis - simple finances, baking, etc. - math is all around us.  Most importantly, find time to be present in their lives; our little ones are only little for a short time.  Through all of this teamwork, I truly believe our students will be fully equipped to tackle the new year in the fall.

My final words of wisdom for the 2017-2018 school year are simple:  Make every day the best day possible.  If every day is better than the last, it is always the best day of your life.

Have a restful, worthwhile summer.

Your Principal,
Sean Flynn
